Why You Should Travel More

Ok so its a new year…we have all probably made some New Years resolutions like watch what we eat, loose some weight, blah blah blah. Since it is now February, we have probably broken some of them by now. (Insert me raising my hand emoji.) Let’s talk about one you should make and not break…travel more this year!! Have you always wanted to travel, but never have for various reasons. Maybe you have kids and don’t want to take them, but feel guilty for leaving them. Maybe you don’t have the money. Maybe you do want to take that family vacation, but haven’t because you think it will be a lot to handle with the entire family going. Whatever the reason is, drop it!

Traveling is good for relaxation. Let’s face it we could all use a little more relaxation in our life. Everything seems to stress us out in our day to day life. Kids, bills, work, you name it. When you travel, it lets us leave our troubles for a little while, and forget about the day to day worries. If you don’t think travel is relaxing, pick somewhere where you will have to relax. Pick your happy place. If you don’t like going non stop, doing all the sightseeing things, then go somewhere you can sit around all day and enjoy not doing anything. Whatever it is, tailor your trip to what your needs are at the time, so you can relax!!

When you travel, you make memories!!! This is the big one for me. I would rather travel and make memories with my husband and friends, than do anything else! It brings me closer to the people I travel with. When I look back at my life I want to say I did things and went places, and experienced different cultures, which brings me to my next point.

Traveling lets you experience how people in other cultures live. There is a great big world out there, just waiting for you to see it. It is nice to see how other people are different from you. Just a small example, when we went to Italy, dinner there is different than in America. Dinner is to be drawn out and enjoyed. They want you to relax, drink, eat, and take your time. They want you to really enjoy the food and flavors. They usually won’t even bring you your bill until you ask for it. Seeing other people and getting a feel for the locals is one of my favorite things when traveling!

Traveling is good for your soul and helps you appreciate life. When you see how big the world is, you realize how small you are. How some things you thought were so important, really aren’t that big of a deal anymore. Sometimes its nice to see how some people in the rest of the world live, and it might change your perspective on things. Traveling can give you clarity and help you not take your life for granted.

Traveling lets you see the beauty of the world. There are so many different climates, landscapes, and views to see and appreciate. Don’t like the beach, ok go to the mountains. Don’t like the mountains, good go to the desert. You get my point. There is something for everyone. Don’t want to travel out of the country? You don’t have to, just go to the next state. There will be new experiences and things to see no matter where you go!

Traveling lets you experience different foods. I love to eat, I mean who doesn’t?? This is one of my favorite past times, especially when traveling. I usually have mapped out several places to eat by the time we leave. I have had spaghetti a million times, but there is nothing like having spaghetti or pizza in Italy. You can get a real taste of all sorts of foods you might would never try otherwise when you travel!

So this year, let’s take the girls trip, go to that place you’ve wanted to go to, take the anniversary trip or weekend trip, whatever, just go somewhere this year. Whose with me??
