Travel Essentials!

Hello my fellow travel lovers! Traveling is one of the many things I absolutely love to do. It is my passion, and I would love to just pack up my husband and puppies and travel non-stop! Have you ever been packing and you start racking your brain…did I forget anything? What did I forget? I know I am forgetting something! There are probably some things you will forget. You can just buy another one at the airport or when you land, but we all know how expensive things at the airport are. There are a few things, though, that are my travel essentials! When I go on a short plane ride (in this country), I always carry these things with me. I also take them with me on long trips, but I add to this list for those trips.

  • Comfy Clothes– I know this seems like a no brainer, but the worst thing is to be on a flight thinking that what you’re wearing is comfortable, only to realize you wish you would have worn something else! I know you don’t want to look like a bum when you fly so I have the perfect solution for you that is comfy and cute…Joggers! Joggers come in so many different styles and materials now that you can dress them up or down and look cute, and they are so comfortable! Pair them with a cute pair of sneakers or flats, and there ya go! Repeat after me… I will always bring a sweater or scarf on my flight! Ladies, I’m talking to you! If you are like me, I get cold easily, and a big, lightweight scarf is the answer. Wear it and look cute and it helps keep you warm, or take it off and it can double as a “pillow.” Now I know it is not actually a pillow but every little bit of cushion helps when you’re flying. If scarves are not your thing, then a lightweight cardigan or sweater will do the trick as well.
  • Moisturizer– Flying for some reason tends to dry everything out! I always keep a good face moisturizer in my bag along with lotion for my hands. Whatever you use for your lips — whether it’s lip balm, chapstick, lip gloss, whatever — just make sure you have something to keep your lips moisturized.
  • Medications– This one is a must! I used to never fly with medicine until one time I needed it and didn’t have it. Never again! Pack a little kit in a cute pouch or even a ziplock bag. Think of anything you could possibly need while being gone. Yes, more than likely you can find it somewhere or even at the airport, but chances are the prices will be jacked up. Tylenol, Advil, or Aleve (whatever you usually take), bandaids of different sizes, nausea medication, allergy medication, and of course any of your prescription medications. My husband made fun of me when we went to Europe because he thought I was overdoing it with my kit full of medicines and bandaids. Well, well, well…wouldn’t you know, he needed my bandaids almost everyday because his shoes rubbed a blister on the back of his heel!
  • Electronics– Phone… check! How could we forget that! Bring ear buds or headphones to play music, or if they have movies on the plane you can plug it into the seat. I also always bring my chargers with me in my purse or carry on.
  • Hand Sanitizer– Get you a tiny little bottle of hand sanitizer because let’s face it… airplanes are probably disgusting and covered in germs. Get the lavender scent and maybe it will help you relax a little bit.
  • Poo-Pourri– Yep, I’m going there! Do yourself a favor and carry the small bottle (it is TSA approved) in your carry on… just in case. You will thank me and so will everybody else. That’s all I’m going to say about that.
  • Gum/candy/snacks– I will always carry gum and snacks in my bag. The gum helps with my ears popping. I also carry snacks because I’m always hungry and I like to eat!

So that is pretty much it for a short flight. These also apply for road trips… but for those I take way more snacks with me! I will post how to survive an overnight flight soon! What are some travel essentials that you always carry?
